We are in abundance with birthday's in our family after the first of the year. First up was Pop's, which I missed on the blog, it was in Jan. Since he and JoJo were in the middle of moving we decided a trip to Jackson was in store. First stop was Dick's for Pop to pick out some "comfy" clothes for his present. Outback was his choice for the birthday dinner, and Baskin Robbins was the pick for birthday dessert. Julia, Jack and Harrison were disappointed we didn't have any candles for him to blow out, but we did serenade him in the middle of Baskin Robbins.
Next up was JoJo's! Beth was out of town and Jody had promised the kids a movie so Adam, Harrison and I headed back to Jackson with Pop and JoJo. Her choice for birthday dinner was Sakura. And boy it was good! Pop was being fuchsias and said it was just an appetizer and wanted to go to Crackle Barrel afterward, but instead we headed to Baskin Robin for dessert. We had a fun night and I think JoJo enjoyed her dinner. After Beth got back in town, she had a birthday dinner at her house for JoJo. She cooked up a fabulous meal and had a wonderful carrot cake (JoJo's favorite) for dessert. Off course the kids had to help blow out the candles. Sadly, this is the only picture I have from all the celebrating, but none the less it is a cute one!
We hope that Pop and JoJo both had a wonderful birthday! We love you both so very much, and cherish all the memories that Harrison gets to make with you. He is one lucky little boy to have you each in his life!

A Rare Treat
Adam and I hardly ever go on dates. Well we have "family dates" as Harrison likes to say, but we rarely get a chance to have a date with ourselves. We have had two dates in less than a week and they were both great! This past weekend we went to Papa and Dar Dar's, so on Friday night they keep Harrison. Adam and I went to dinner at J's, a favorite of ours, and then we went shopping:). Originally, we were going to the movies after dinner, but since we were in Memphis and there was the option to shop, I somehow talked him into shopping. So we went shopping and bought nothing for ourselves and everything for Harrison! Why is it so easy to buy for your child?!? None the less, we had a wonderful time just spending time together.
Harrison did not have school on Monday, due to President's Day, so he and Jo Jo spent the day together and were joined by Julia and Jack after lunch. Pop and Jo Jo decided to have all the kids stay the night. Therefore, we had the opportunity to have another date. So, we went to the movies and saw "The Vow." It was a good movie, a little depressing at times, but all in all a sweet story. My favorite part of the whole night was when we were sitting in the theatre waiting for the movie to start and Adam leaned over, with a giddy little voice, and said, "I love getting to do this with you. I feel like a teenager again." It's funny how we take such little things, like going on dates, for granted. So today, I am thankful for the opportunity to have dates with my hubby, who happens to be the best thing that ever happened to me!

My Little Reader
Harrison gets a new book in mail each month, thanks to the Dolly Parton Library, and we received his February book this week. I gave it to him when Adam and I were getting dinner ready. I suddenly heard Harrison talking about snow and a bear...I had no idea what he was talking about. I went around the counter and this is what I found.
He was reading the new book and it was about snow and polar bears. I love how in the second picture you can see his finger pointing to the words. Soon after he notice me with the camera, he went to his room. A few minutes later I heard him talking again. So, I peaked in his room and he was behind his rocker with his stuff animals reading to them. Hearing him make up his story, as he saw it in the pictures, was precious! I just hope that his love of books and reading will continue!

Story Hour Valentine's Party
Harrison goes each Monday to "story hour" at the elementary school. Mrs. Donna and Mrs. Pam are his teachers and they do such a good job! Every holiday they have a little party. So Valentine's Day was no different. We did the normal things, like free play, saying the pledge and singing about the weather. We also sang some Valentine's Day songs and read a book about Valentine's Day. Mrs. Donna and Mrs. Pam had the tables all decarated for the occasion and it was precious! They had snacks and exchanged Valentine's with each other. Harrison had a blast a usual.
These two are just like brother and sister... they are fighting one minute and loving on each other the next. |
Snack Time
Loving on each other
They had each child a bag that was filled with Valentine's. Harrison gave his friends a bag of goldfish with a tag that said "Will you O'FISH'ally" be my Valentine? They turned out really cute. He had so much fun getting to go through the bag. With as much candy as we ended up with, you would have thought it was Halloween!
